Seibu Lions 's reliable cleanup hitter, infielder Tyler Nevin hit his 11th home run of the season, a three-run shot, to quickly take the lead.

After Canario led off the first inning with hit, they were closer hit by the opposing starting pitcher, Ohno, until the fifth inning.

However, in the sixth inning, trailing by two runs, Canario reached base with two outs and a Hit by Pitch. First baseman runner Canario's aggressive stolen base drew a bad throw from the opposing catcher, putting two outs and a runner on third. Takizawa then chose Walk to play with runners on first and third with two outs, and Kuwahara hit a timely single to left field to bring in a run. With two outs and runners on first and third, Nevin swung through the opponent's starter Ohno's 133 km/h cutter, but the newly established left field home run wing was sucked in. His 11th homer of the season was a go-ahead three-run homer that changed the tide. About half of the left stands were filled with Seibu Lions cheers from the fans.
