Seibu Lions 's starting pitcher, Chihiro Sumida, recorded his first RBI in his fifth year as a professional.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, with a two-run lead and one out, runners on second and third base, left-handed hitter Sumida stepped up to the plate as the team's fight song blared from the left-field stands. He let the first pitch go by, but on the second pitch, a 153 km/h fastball on the inside corner, he shook his bat to the side and executed a powerful squeeze, sending the ball rolling in front of pitcher.

Katsuno catch the ball and throw to home plate, but third base runner Hasegawa's speed was just a little faster, adding another run. For Sumida, who had yet to get hit in his five years as a professional, it was his first RBI, and he raised both hands in celebration after running to first base.
