Seibu Lions won a close game against Hanshin Tigers, securing their first-ever three-game winning streak in the interleague series on the road. They have now accumulated a season-high 11 wins above .500.

In the second inning, with the score tied 0-0, infielder Tyler Nevin led off with his 10th home run of the season, a solo shot that landed over the center field wall, giving his team the lead. In the seventh inning, with two outs and short stop on first and third, Hasegawa hit a hard line drive on full count, and when opposing shortstop Obata made bad throw to first base, two runners scored, giving his team an additional run.

Starting pitcher Yutaro Watanabe earned his third win of the season with 7 scoreless innings, allowing only 2 hit and strike out runs 6. In the first inning, he was helped by a good catch by first baseman Nevin and retired the side in order. In the second inning, he gave up 2 hit and had runners on first and second with 2 outs, but he got Obata to fly out to right field to escape without runs. After that, breaking ball were sharp and he continued his no pitch hit until he finished the 7th inning.
