Softbank Hawks Hawks team chairman Sadaharu Oh issued a statement on the 3rd, marking the first anniversary of Shigeo Nagashima's death.

During his playing career, Chairman Oh, along with Nagashima, formed the "ON" duo that contributed to The Giants' nine consecutive championships (1965-1973). He has also taken on a role as a selection committee member for the newly established "Shigeo Nagashima Award," carrying on Mr. Nagashima's passion for the development baseball.

On the first anniversary of his death, the team released a message saying, "It has been a year since Mr. Nagashima passed away, and my appreciation for what a special presence he was to baseball world grows stronger every year. I hope he will continue to watch over Japanese baseball in the future."
