Softbank Hawks pitcher Ryosuke Otsu allowed his first hit in the 7th inning with one out. He had been pitching a perfect pitch until then, not allowing a single runner.

He steadily accumulated outs from the first inning, and by the end of the fifth inning, his pitch count was 60. He effectively used a variety of breaking ball as well as high fastballs.

However, in the bottom of the seventh inning with one out, Chunichi 's Tanaka hit a single to left field on a 2-2 count, allowing the first runner of the day.
