◇◇◇

This time, we would like to introduce Kaede Kushiyama, a new member of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters Official Cheer Team "The Fighters Girl".

Born in Ebetsu City, Hokkaido, born on February 21st, his nickname is "Kae-chan, Den-chan", and his hobbies are knitting, cameras, traveling, and sleeping.

Mr. Kushiyama has devoted himself to cheerleading in high school and Yosakoi in college. As I searched for my future path, I came to the idea that I like dancing and wanted to contribute to my favorite Hokkaido, so I auditioned for The Fighters Girl. With the overflowing love of Hokkaido and the joy of dancing in our hearts, we will liven up ES CON FIELD HOKKAIDO with our all-out performances.

A Q&A with Kaede Kushiyama!

◯How would you describe your personality in one word?
A free spirit with common sense (?)

I love "〇〇"!
Time to just zone out without thinking about anything

I'm not good at "〇〇"!
Crowded train, loud noise

What were your childhood dreams?
Pastry chef (I still bake sweets at home occasionally!)

What is the most moving experience you've ever had in your life?
The first time I saw the "Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights" live since I was old enough to understand things.
During the pandemic, I watched videos and listened to music almost every day, building up my longing, and when I finally got to see it live after the pandemic ended, I cried from beginning to end. I watched it live and on video so many times that I memorized the order in which the characters appeared and even their lines.

What are you grateful for in your life?
I'm ashamed to admit that it wasn't until I became an adult that I realized how amazing and grateful I was to my parents for letting me pursue my dreams without complaint, even when I chose expensive paths (like extracurricular activities or higher education).
I am where I am today undoubtedly because of my past experiences, and I am eternally grateful to my parents for supporting me in so many ways, not just financially. I want to repay them in many ways from now on.

What inspired you to start dancing?
I became interested in dancing after watching idols.

Where do you want to go most right now?
Cat Island

◯What's your phone's wallpaper?
A two-shot photo of Goofy and Pluto taken with my DSLR camera.

What would you want to eat as your last meal?
The cheesecake my mother used to make for me often.
Apparently, it's impossible to recreate it now because the recipe has been lost.

◯What surprised you about joining the "The Fighters Girls"?
When I first met the existing members, they were so cute and dazzling that I couldn't look them directly in the eye.
She's a billion times cuter in person than in photos or videos.

What do you find most difficult right now?
MC. Besides focusing on what to say and how to deliver it, my current challenge is to speak in a louder, more easily audible voice, as my vocal cords are naturally weak and my voice is quiet (my voice gets hoarse after just two or three karaoke songs).

Things I'd like to learn from my seniors
Recommended beauty products, cosmetics, and secrets to a sophisticated look

◯What were your impressions on your first day of practice?
The senior members put on a welcome show for the new members, and seeing how they transformed from ordinary girls into professionals the moment they switched into performance mode, even without their costumes, filled me with a mix of emotions: hope, anticipation, and anxiety about becoming like them myself.
But ultimately, the strongest feelings were the excitement of finally it all starting and the determination to give it my all.

What are you most looking forward to doing with this team from now on?
This year we have more members than last year, and I'm looking forward to seeing how we can grow even stronger from here on out.

Look at this part of me!
The joyful expression on her face while dancing

If you had to choose your walk-up music for the 2026 season, which would it be?
Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku "Singalong Singasong"

[The Fighters Girls]
In 2004, the The Fighters Girls cheerleading team was formed along with the team's relocation to Hokkaido. Beyond energizing the stadium with their performances and cheering on the team, they are active both inside and outside the stadium, serving as stadium tour guides, promoting the team in various media, and working as dance academy instructors. They also actively participate in visits to kindergartens and daycare centers throughout Hokkaido and appear at events, playing a crucial role as a "bridge" connecting The Fighters with fans and the local community. This season, wearing their newly redesigned costumes—the first refresh in four years—the team consists of 27 members, including 14 new members and 13 returning members, who will passionately support The Fighters in their quest win.
