In the third inning with two outs and a runner on first base, Hiroshima's Sakakura hit a timely doble. The player chased after the ball in right field and crashed into wall. He was unable to get up immediately and remained crouched for a while. He then stood up and took his position in defense.

In the bottom of the inning, Yanagida hit a solo home run with two outs to tie the game, and with two outs and a runner on second base, he stepped up to the plate. He got on base with an infield hit to the pitcher, but Tanigawara was sent in as a pinch runner.
