◆Nippon Life Interleague Series 2026 Seibu Lions 13-4 DeNA (29th, Belluna Dome)
Seibu Lions outfielder Masayuki Kuwahara had a great performance against his former team, the DeNA BayStars, going 2 At Bat hit 4 with one RBI. He made his first appearance on the victory podium at his home stadium since transferring teams and once again greeted Seibu Lions fans.
He started the game as the "number 3 batter and left fielder." In the third inning, immediately after the opposing team tied the game, Takizawa led off with an infield hit to shortstop. "The ball I hit was lucky, but I'm glad it turned out well. I have to do what I can," he said, as he hit a go-ahead RBI triple that dropped just inside the right field line with no outs and a runner on first.
After that, with one out and a runner on third, he advanced to home as a runner on Hasegawa's grounder to shortstop. Although he was caught between three bases, he persisted until Hasegawa reached third base, saying, "That's all I can do. That feeling is important," and then connected it to Yu Koga's timely hit.
Having transferred from DeNA as a free agent last offseason, this was his 26th game and his first appearance on the home field's victory podium. Prompted by the interviewer, he said, "Once again, I'm Kuwahara. I want to lead the team with my own gutsy play. I hope you will continue to support us," which was met with a huge roar of applause from the stadium.
