Last year, as a rookie, Teranishi recorded his first professional win on June 13th against The Giants (Kyocera Dome Osaka). "I have a really good feeling about it," he said excitedly. In the early part of his second professional season, he had a 1-1 record as a starter. Due to team circumstances, he moved to the bullpen and has since established himself as a key part of the winning pattern.
When asked which players he would like to compete against and which he would like to keep an eye on, he chose Uchiyama and Okugawa (both from Yakult). Uchiyama was in the same year as him at Seiryo High School, and Okugawa was one year older. He showed the utmost respect for them, saying, "I just can't surpass him. I keep looking at him with that in mind."
Armed with a fastball that reaches a maximum speed of 158 km/h, he intends to overwhelm hitter in the Central League. "We are currently in second place as a team. I feel that the real challenge starts now. As a relief pitcher, I've been given opportunities to pitch in important situations. I hope that people will see me throwing with all my might in tense situations and closer the score at zero," he promised, promising to give it his all.
