◆ Pacific League Seibu Lions 4-3 Orix Buffaloes (24th, Belluna Dome)
Seibu Lions Lions outfielder Alexander Canario, who hit two home runs in a single game for the first time this season, expressed his gratitude to the Lions fans who filled the home stadium.
He started the game as the leadoff hitter and right fielder. In the bottom of the first inning, trailing by one run, he hit a game-tying solo home run to left field off the first pitch from opposing starter Yamaoka. Then, in the sixth inning with two outs and a runner on first, he hit another go-ahead two-run homer to left field, his fourth of the season.
In his first year in Japan this season, his batting average is only .253, but he has become the regular leadoff hitter since Kuwahara's injury. He is leading the team with his aggressive play both offensively and defensively.
Tickets for the game were sold out again today. The left field stands were packed with fans, and the player smiled and said, "Whether it's a home game or an away game, it makes me so happy that so many of you come to the stadium every day and support us like this, regardless of whether we win or lose. We will give 100 percent in return, so please continue to support us."
