Nippon-Ham of Kenta Uehara pitcher, has been dropped by the board on an emergency basis.

He took the mound at the start of the seventh inning. After getting two outs, he threw a 154 km/h fastball for strike on the first pitch to Tatsumi, but then he showed signs of favoring his right leg. He was escorted off the field by a trainer and was removed from the game.

The emergency relief pitcher was Seigi Tanaka, who was apparently preparing to take the mound in the eighth inning. He got Tatsumi out with just one pitch, resulting in a ground ball to first base, and manager Shinjo applauded.
