Seibu Lions 's starting pitcher, Shinya Sugai achieved a high-quality start (seven innings or more with two or fewer earned runs) by allowing six hit and one runs over seven innings.

In the second inning, with the score tied 0-0, he gave up the first run when Lotte's Yamaguchi hit breaking ball on the seventh pitch into the left field stands. He slumped to his knees on mound, looking stunned. "I was able to get ahead in count, but I wasn't able to attack aggressively, so I think I need to practice more," he reflected.

However, he quickly switched gears and showed a good pitch in his pitching. Mixing fastballs in the high 140s km/h with slider, change-up, and knuckle curves, he allowed six hit but only gave runs one Home Run run.

Kaihino took mound, but was replaced after 103 pitches. He didn't get his third win of the season, but he said, "I was able to pitch at a good tempo. Next time, I want to make sure I adjust properly so that I can pitch at my own tempo and rhythm from the first inning, like I did from the second inning onwards."

Director Nishiguchi commented, "She seemed a little flustered in the first inning, but after that, she really showed her own style and played a good game. I think it was great."
