On the 18th, Katsuyuki Kiyomiya (58), father of Nippon-Ham Ham infielder Kotaro Kiyomiya (26), opened "Esora-goto," a gluten-free brown rice udon specialty restaurant he co-manages, at F Village's "SUNNY TERRACE." Katsuyuki Kiyomiya and Kotaro participated in the media day, marking their first joint appearance as father and son.
Katsuyuki began by saying, "Today marks our first time performing together. I'm really looking forward to this first time performing as father and son." When asked about Kotaro, he acknowledged his son's growth, saying, "He's finally grown into an adult. He's lost fat and gained muscle, and now he has the body of a top athlete. He was really skinny just two or three years ago."
The new store, "SUNNY TERRACE," is operated by a company whose representative director is Yuki Saito (37), Kotaro's senior from Waseda Jitsugyo High School and Nippon-Ham. Kotaro started playing baseball because he was inspired by Saito's success at Waseda Jitsugyo. Katsuyuki explained, "The connection with Saito was the biggest factor in opening here."
"It's a strange feeling to be doing this as a family," Kotaro said with a laugh. "It's very moving to see my father's udon shop opening right in front of ES CON FIELD, and I'm especially happy that it's being held at Yuki's facility. I hope lots of people will come."
