Katsuyuki Kiyomiya, father of Nippon-Ham infielder Kotaro Kiyomiya Kiyomiya, co-managed a gluten-free brown rice udon noodle shop called "Esora-goto" at F Village's "SUNNY TERRACE" on the 18th, and Katsuyuki participated in the media day together with Kotaro. This marked the first time the father and son had appeared together in public.
Katsuyuki began by saying, "This is our first time performing together. I'm really looking forward to this first time working together as father and son." They enjoyed their time together as father and son, each sampling their favorite dishes, and maintained a gentle smile throughout.
SUNNY TERRACE" is operated by a company headed by Yuki Saito, a senior at Waseda University and Nippon-Ham. When he was in the first grade of elementary school, Kotaro was inspired to start baseball after watching the summer Koshien finals, which Yuki Saito's team won, and Katsuyuki said, "Yuki Saito, the man who inspired me, produced this 'SUNNY TERRACE. I think this kind of connection with Mr. Saito is the main reason why we opened here," he explained.
The family has been working on gluten-free products for about seven years. However, at the time, there weren't any delicious gluten-free options. "It all started when we decided to try making it ourselves. We met a lot of different people and created a unique, original product," says Katsuyuki. Kotaro, who tasted the product, said, "Now, our noodles are even in the athletes' cafeteria, and people who aren't on a gluten-free diet are eating them without worrying. Some people are eating them simply because they're delicious," emphasizing their deliciousness.
Kotaro said, "It's a strange feeling to be doing this as a father and son, but it's very moving to see my father's udon shop opening right in front of ES CON FIELD, and I'm especially happy that it's being held at Yuki's facility, so I hope lots of people will come."
