During pre-game practice, the players worked up a sweat with Mount Iwaki, which stands majestically behind the right field, as their backdrop.

Mount Iwaki, with an elevation of 1,625 meters, is the highest peak in Aomori Prefecture. It is selected as one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan and one of the New 100 Famous Mountains of Japan.

The Tohoku Series involves games played in all six prefectures of Tohoku. Last season, they suffered three consecutive losses in Iwate, Fukushima, and Yamagata. They won the fourth game in Aomori (Hirosaki), but lost the fifth game in Akita.
