Ukyo Shuto

Sports Hochi commentator Yoshiaki Kanemura, who played for Kintetsu and Chunichi during his active career, appeared on MBS Radio's "Yoshiaki Kanemura's Enough Already!" on the 11th and analyzed the play of Softbank Hawks 's Shuto, who stole home in the game against Lotte on the 10th (Mizuho PayPay Dome).

"I saw this play by Shuto. The batter was Yanagida. He's left-handed hitter. Normally, you'd get angry about something like that. I could understand if it was right-handed hitter (who's in catcher 's blind spot), but the timing was such that it was clearly an out! catcher just tagged him with one hand and the ball got away and fumbled."

Softbank Hawks was down by one run in the third inning, two outs and a runner on third. Before Lotte's Mouri threw the first pitch to Softbank Hawks Yanagida, Shuto at third base runner got the start of the game. The timing was tight, but a white ball spilled from catcher Matsukawa's mitt, tying the score.

He prefaced his remarks by saying, "I understand if it's hitter around the 8th or 9th spot in the lineup and you don't expect them to be able to hit," before revealing, "When Gīta (Yanagita) was robbed, he said, 'Come on, you've got enough.' There's a story that in the past, when Nagashima (Shigeo) (of The Giants) stole home, the next batter, Hirooka (Tatsuro), got angry. (When it's hitter) don't do it, don't do it. Absolutely never do it. I guess he was able to steal because it was a left-handed pitcher..."
