Orix Buffaloes Miyakuni Ryouku

◆ Pacific League Orix Buffaloes: Orix vs. Lotte (5th, Kyocera Dome Osaka)

Orix Buffaloes pitcher Riku Miyakuni has earned a spot on the main roster. He joined the first team that day and spoke to reporters before the game. "I'm happy and relieved. I've been working hard thinking that this year was a make-or-break year for me," he said with a big sigh. He joined the team in 2023 as the third pick in the developmental draft from Toho High School, and this season he has appeared in seven games in the farm league. He has recorded four wins (one loss), tied for the most in the Western Division as a starter, and has continued to impress, allowing only one runs in a total of seven inning in his last two games.

The right-handed pitcher, who throws at a top speed of 154 km/h, is from Ginowan, Okinawa, just like Miyagi. He also reported his success to his senior, the ace left-handed pitcher, who encouraged him by saying, "I'm happy for you. I'll be watching, so do your best." The rising star will make a fresh start with number 65. "I can't perform at the same level as him (Miyagi), but I hope to get at least a little closer," he vowed, promising to make his mark on the first team.

The number of players under contract, which is limited to a maximum of 70, has been reduced to 67.
