Seibu Lions 's Tyler Nevin infielder who was promoted to the first team for the first time this season, started as the cleanup hitter and first baseman and delivered a go-ahead hit as a way of introducing himself to the team.

In the first inning, with two outs and a runner on third base, Nevin stepped up to the plate as fans in the left field stands chanted, "Welcome back, welcome back, Nevin!" On the third pitch from opposing starter Hiroike, a 149 km/h fastball, he hit the ball down the left field line for a go-ahead RBI doble.

In his first year in Japan last season, he played in 137 games as the starting first first baseman. He led the team as a key player with a batting average of .277, 21 Home Run, and 63 RBI, and also won a Golden Glove Award. He was the only player the manager had explicitly stated would be a regular starter this season.

In his second year in Japan this season, he joined the spring training camp midway through due to family reasons. During the camp, he complained of back stiffness, which delayed his training, but he joined the first team on March 10th. However, on the 13th of the same month, he missed another game due to discomfort in his left side, and his poor condition continued until he finally made his return to competitive play on April 24th in a farm regular season against DeNA (at Belluna Dome).
