Seibu Lions outfielder Canario made a significant contribution to the team's three-game winning streak with his aggressive base running.

He started the game as hit and right fielder. In the second inning, he led off with an infield single to shortstop to get on base, and then reached third base on a hit to center field by Kishi. With one out and runners on second and third, he scored on sacrifice fly by Koga Yu, giving his team the lead.

Leading off in the fourth inning, he hit triple that went straight to the right-center wall fence, and said, "My job is to also execute base running. That's important. Coach Kuroda (at third base) gave me the 'go' sign, and Kish hit a fly ball, and I wanted to somehow bring it home." He then showed off another sprint on Kish's shallow sacrifice fly fly to center field and scored.

Canario joined Seibu Lions at the request of manager Nishiguchi, who wanted a batter who could "swing hard," but so far he has played in 19 games with zero Home Run and a batting average of .220, so he is not in top form. Nevertheless, he said, "I may not be getting the results I want, but I think the most important thing is to do what I need to do properly and prepare for the games, so I want to do that properly," showing his determination to continue fighting with all his heart and soul for the team's win.
