Nippon-Ham lost a high-scoring game against last-place Lotte, dropping back to zero wins and falling to fourth place.

Starting pitcher Takashi Kato gave up two runs in the first inning due to a teammate's error, then gave up a three-run homer to Nishikawa in the third and another three in the fourth, recording a 7 hit 8 runs in the middle of the fourth. They suffered their first loss of the season without being able to produce a match. "I was expecting a lot, but it's pathetic. I ruined a good momentum and feel sorry for the team," he said, his shoulders dropped.

The offense saw Narama hit his second home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the third inning; Manami hit his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot, in the fifth inning, putting him alone at the top of the league; and Reyes hit his third home run, a solo shot, in the seventh inning, bringing the team's total to 30 home runs in the first 16 games of the season, but it wasn't quite enough.
