Orix Buffaloes announced that outfielder visited a hospital in Osaka City and was diagnosed with a "distal ulna fracture of the right bone."

Sugisawa started as the number two hitter and center fielder, but in his second at-bat in the third inning, he was hit Hit by Pitch near his right wrist by Seibu Lions starting pitcher, Sumida. He crouched down on the spot, his face showing pain. He was escorted off the field by a trainer. The stadium was filled with angry shouts from Orix Buffaloes fans.
