Softbank Hawks infielder Hotaka Yamakawa hit his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot that tied the game, in the second inning.

In the second inning, trailing by one run, he stepped up to the plate as the leadoff batter and swung at the first pitch from opposing starter Sumida, a 146 km/h fastball. The ball made a resounding crack and landed near the left field foul pole. Coming immediately after his team had conceded the first run, he tied the game with a single swing.
