Seibu Lions starter Kaima Taira threw 8 innings and pitched 2 hit 1 runs (0 earned) and scored 12 struck out.

Rakuten Eagles 's first-round draft pick, rookie right-hander Sota Fujiwara from Hanazono University, pitched well, allowing only four hit and one runs five innings. While his first professional win was postponed, his 94 pitches raised expectations for the future.
