Lotte pitcher Haruya Tanaka (21) started the game and threw 99 pitches over 6 innings, allowing only 3 hit, 3 Hit by Pitch, strike out 8, and giving up no runs. He left the game with the right to earn his second win of the season.
In the first inning, he easily got two outs by getting Nomura Walk to third base and Kondo to hit a line drive to shortstop, but then walked Yanagimachi and Hit by Pitch Yamakawa with a pitch, putting runners on first and second. He got Kurihara to ground out to third base, escaping the inning without runs.
In the third inning, after two outs, Kondo and Yanagimachi hit consecutively to first and third base. He took a struck out swing from Yamakawa with a fork and did not score.
In the fifth inning, with two outs, Nomura Walk a single to center hit, and Kondo walked, putting runners on first and second. He then threw a 151 km/h fastball to Yanagimachi for a called struck out, preventing any runs from scoring. In the bottom of the inning, his teammates scored the first run with a timely hit by Fujiwara. With the run support he received, he took mound in the sixth inning closer the side in order before being replaced.
