Orix Buffaloes 's Naruki Teranishi

◆ Pacific League: Nippon-Ham vs. Orix Orix Buffaloes (April 4th, ES CON FIELD)

Orix Buffaloes pitcher Naruki Teranishi has been removed from the active roster. He made his first start of the season against Nippon-Ham on the 3rd (ES CON FIELD), but was knocked out in the middle of the 4th inning after giving up a career-worst 6 runs. After the game, he reflected, "I didn't have much confidence in my fastball, and it felt like I was running away from the challenge." The second-year right-hander was expected to be a key part of the starting rotation. Manager Mamoru Kishida also called on him to be more aggressive, saying, "He was a little too reserved. I think there were times when he could have been bolder," and he has been given time to readjust.

Rookie pitcher Shu Takaya, who made his professional debut in the game against Nippon-Ham on the 3rd and gave up 5 runs in one inning, has also been removed from the roster. He is expected to return to the first team having grown stronger, using the disappointment he experienced in his hometown of Hokkaido as motivation.
