Seibu Lions took the lead with a timely hit from outfielder Masayuki Kuwahara who transferred from DeNA as a free agent last offseason, marking his first RBI since joining the team.

He appeared in six consecutive games since the season opener as "No. 1, Left Wing" starting line-up. With no runs scored in the third inning and one out, he swung at a straight ball from Miyagi, the opposing starter, and hit a timely doble pitch that just glanced off the glove of left fielder. It was Kuwabara's first RBI in his sixth game since joining the club.
