Orix Buffaloes secured their second shutout game victory of the season. Starting pitcher Espinoza, a right-hander in his third year in Japan, hit and strike out seven, earning his first shutout game win in his 46th appearance in NPB.

　打線は両軍無得点の６回、無死二塁から広岡の右前適時打で先制。その後は捕逸と野選で２点を追加すると、１死一、三塁からはシーモアに来日初打点となる右前適時打が生まれた。この回一挙４得点で、西武先発・高橋光からは８連勝。投打がかみ合い、再び貯金１とした。
