◆ Pacific League Rakuten Eagles 2-4 Softbank Hawks (31st, Rakuten Eagles Mobile)
Softbank Hawks won all their games with come-from-behind victories, achieving their first four-game winning streak to start the season in three years. Trailing by one run in the third inning with two outs and runners on first and second, Yuki Yanagita hit a game-tying RBI single to right field. Facing Rakuten's Kenta Maeda, who is the same age as Rakuten Eagles (born in 1988), for the first time in 13 years, Yanagita fulfilled his role as the cleanup hitter. "I was just desperately trying to hit the ball, and that resulted in a timely hit," said the 37-year-old, who has had hit in four consecutive games since the start of the season.
In the fourth inning, they took the lead with a go-ahead sacrifice fly to left field by Ukyo Shuto, and added another run in the eighth inning on a wild pitch. In the ninth inning, they added another run with a timely doble by Ryoya Kurihara.
On the pitching side, starter Tomohisa Ozeki earned his first win, allowing only one runs in six innings. Kazuki Sugiyama closed out the game in the ninth inning with a one-run lead, earning his second save.
