Orix Buffaloes' Yasuto Takashima

It was decided on the 30th that Orix Buffaloes pitcher Yasuto Takashima (26) will make his first start of the season in the game against Seibu Lions on the 31st (Belluna Dome). In 2013, he made a unique presence as a long reliever, and the right-hander has been highly praised by manager Kishida, who said, "He does a really valuable job in a difficult role." He will be pitching against Sumida, a member of the WBC Japan national team, but he has no intention of backing down.

"I want to go as far as I can with all my might. This year, I definitely want to be a starting pitcher." In 2013, he had a record of 2 wins and 1 loss ERA 3.67 in 22 games. In relief, he pitched 39 1/3 innings in 16 games with a stable ERA of 2.75. In his third year as a professional, he made an impression from spring training. He made the opening day rotation and was entrusted with the first game of the important six-game series.

Having only managed two wins in March and April, he has also identified areas for improvement. "It's not good to be too tired, nor is it good to rest too much," he says, showing enthusiasm for strengthening his muscles during the season. With his charming looks, he joined the team from the corporate league team Oji, earning him the nickname "Orix's Prince." He is determined to become a starter and achieve great success.
