Left-handed pitcher Yamato Fuji, the first pick in the 2024 developmental draft, made his debut in a first-team regular season on the 28th, but was removed from the game without recording a single out.

He came in as the second pitcher in the 6th inning with his team trailing by 4 runs. He allowed a hit to left field to the leadoff batter, Teraji, and then gave up a two-run homer to Soto, his first of the season, to left field. After giving up another run on consecutive hits, he allowed another single to right hit to the next hitter, putting runners on first and third with no outs, at which point manager Nishiguchi called for a pitching change. Nakamura Yu came in as the third pitcher.

Fuji joined Seibu Lions in 2024 as the first pick in the developmental draft from Omiya Higashi High School. This spring, he completed the first team's training camp in Nango, Miyazaki, and remained with the first team during the open games. He was promoted to the main roster on the 24th, just before the start of the season.

His older brother, Hayato, was drafted by the Lotte Marines in the 2013 draft as the 5th pick, but he has yet to pitch in a first-team game. He has now made regular season team debut before his brother.
