Softbank Hawks pitcher Moinelo made an appearance at pre-game practice on the 28th.

The left-handed pitcher, who was last season's Pacific League MVP and participated in the WBC as a member of the Cuban national team, had already been eliminated in the first round after their game against Canada on the 12th. However, Cuba was experiencing severe fuel shortages, resulting in numerous large-scale power outages and making it difficult to contact the outside world. His late arrival meant he was ruled out of the opening day rotation. He arrived in Japan on the evening of the 25th and reached Fukuoka on the 26th.

　２６日にみずほペイペイドームを訪れ、チーム関係者と交流した。その際は表情にも疲れが見えたが、この日から早速練習に参加。登板までの復帰予定は未定で、倉野信次投手コーチは、２７日の日本ハム戦（みずほペイペイ）前に対応し「急いでつくって故障するのが一番チームにとってマイナス。そこは慎重にいかないといけない。とにかく練習していった中で、体の状態を確認しながらプランは決めていきたい」と話していた。
