◆ Pacific League Orix Buffaloes 0-10 Rakuten Eagles (27th, Kyocera Dome Osaka)
Rakuten Eagles Eagles pitcher Kosei Shoji (25) earned his first win of the season with a superb performance, allowing only four hit, no Hit by Pitch hit batsmen, and no runs over eight innings.
He skillfully controlled the Bulls' powerful lineup with his fastball reaching 155 km/h, along with curves and fork. In his fourth year, he took on his first major role as the game's pitcher and made a decisive play.
The offense took the lead in the first inning with a two-run doble by McCusker. In the second inning, they scored six more runs, including back-to-back two-run doble by Boyd and McCusker, knocking Miyagi out of the game and providing strong support for Shoji.
They steadily added runs thereafter, and in the 7th inning, Kobukata hit a single to left field, marking hit for every player in the starting lineup. This is the first time a team hit in the starting lineup in an opening game since Hiroshima in 2022, and the first time in Pacific League since Nippon-Ham in 2001. It was a record-breaking first win.
