In the first inning, Mizutani hit a ground ball to third base, which Kurihara misplayed. Immediately afterwards, Kiyomiya hit a two-run homer. Later, Manami hit a solo homer, resulting in three runs against them.

In the second inning, with one out and a runner on first base, trailing by three runs, Kurihara hit a fastball into the left-center field terrace seats. He got his revenge in his very first at-bat. His two-run homer narrowed the deficit to just one run.
