Orix Buffaloes Atsuya Kogita pitcher (27) will have another surgery on his right elbow. He decided to undergo surgery again to remove any uncertainty.

In 2023, he posted excellent results with 4 wins and an ERA of 2.19 in 38 games, and when fully fit, he would be an indispensable part of the relief pitching staff. While Yoshida and Udagawa, who underwent Tommy John surgery around the same time, returned to active play, Kogita himself continued to not throw from late January, enduring difficult days. In 2025, his fourth year as a professional, he did not make a single appearance in the first team for the first time. He was re-signed as a developmental player during the offseason.

It appears to be a cleaning surgery, and if all goes well, he plans to return to full pitch in June. He will likely aim to participate in games during the first half of the season and return to the main roster.
