Seibu Lions outfielder Seiya Watanabe (23) started starting line-up as the cleanup hitter and third baseman. In his second at-bat in the fourth inning, with his team leading by one run, he hit a 142 km/h fastball thrown by Lotte's second-round draft pick, left-handed pitcher Mori (Meiji University), for a solo home run to left field, his first of the preseason.

"I hit a fastball. In my previous at-bat, I was closer by the same pitch, so I was able to connect with it well this time," he said proudly, having perfectly hit the fastball that had resulted in a fly out to right field in the first inning.
