Nippon-Ham announced on the 12th that they have reached a contract agreement with former High Point Rockers (US independent league) and Taiwanese national team catcher Lyle Lin (28). Lin will wear number 38. Lin started as the eighth batter and catcher in the game against Japan on the 6th for the Taiwanese national team in the WBC. In the 2024 Premier12 final, he hit the first Home Run of The Giants' Togo, who was a Samurai player.
Lin commented, "Hello everyone. I'm Lyle Lin, catcher from Taiwan. I'm very honored to be able to play as a member of Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. From now on, I'll practice hard every day, play with all my might, and do my best to contribute to the team becoming the best in Japan."
He participated in the fall camp at ESCON in November last year as a trainee. Acting GM Kida said, "We have been keeping an eye on him ever since he participated in the fall camp last year as a test player. After seeing him play for Taiwan in the WBC, we were convinced that he would be able to contribute to The Fighters becoming number one in Japan, and so we have come to an agreement on this contract. He will be joining the team just before the start of this season, and we have high hopes that he will be a great asset to the team."
