Samurai Japan catcher Kenya Wakatsuki made a disappointing bad throw, allowing the first run. In the sixth inning, with one out and a runner on second base, Wakatsuki tried to stop Whitefield from stealing third base, but throw went wide towards the gap between third and shortstop, allowing Whitefield to score.

After somehow managing to hold on to just one runs, Shohei Ohtani came out to the first base bench and patted him on the back, offering encouragement.
