Samurai Japan's third pitcher, Shoma Fujihira (Rakuten Eagles), pitched one inning, allowing one hit and no runs. His fastest pitch was 153 km/h.

Fujihira's starting pitcher, Hiroto Takahashi (Chunichi), pitched two hit innings without allowing a hit. The second pitcher, Yuto Kanemaru (Chunichi), also closer runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Fujihira took the mound as the third pitcher from the sixth inning.

After getting two outs from the leadoff batter, Nakano hit a 153 km/h fastball to center field with two outs, but he struck struck out Nakagawa with a 142 km/ fork.

Fujihira was called up as a replacement after pitcher Kaima Taira (Seibu Lions) withdrew due to a "left calf muscle strain." Last season, he appeared in a career-high 62 games as a reliever, recording 2 wins, 2 losses, 12 saves, 21 hold, and an ERA of 2.11.
