Orix Buffaloes announced that development pitcher Kosuke Kawachi underwent reconstruction surgery on his right anterior cruciate ligament at a hospital in Kobe. His return this season is considered uncertain. Kawachi injured his right knee during defense practice on the 11th. He left the Miyazaki training camp on the 17th. He joined the team as the second pick in the 2023 draft from St. Catherine Academy (Ehime). He underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in August 2024, and returned to action in the Phoenix League in October 2025, before being re-registered as a controlled player. The accident occurred while he was aiming to be registered as a controlled player. He will be hospitalized for a few days and will undergo rehabilitation while his condition is monitored.
