Orix Buffaloes 's fifth-round draft pick, pitcher Takaya Shu (Hokkai Gakuen University), took the mound for the first live batting practice (a simulated game) at the Miyazaki camp on the 19th. He faced fourth-round pick Kubota, seventh-round pick Nogami, developmental third-round pick Nakanishi, and developmental catcher Murakami, throwing 20 pitches without allowing hit. He even broke Nogami's bat with a fastball, making a great debut in front of manager Kishida and other coaches.

On this day, Matthew, who was drafted second in the development draft, Watanabe, who was drafted fourth, and Chen, a second-year right-hander from Taiwan, also took mound and each threw 20 pitches.
