Rakuten Eagles 's new foreign pitcher, José Ureña (34) and pitcher Roansy Contreras (26), took to the mound for their first live BP (batting practice in a game-like format) since joining the team at their training camp in Kin, Okinawa.
Ureña, a 188cm, 94kg pitcher from the Dominican Republic who clocked a top speed of 155km/h, commented, "It was my first game in a while, so rather than focusing on speed, I was more focused on strike strong strikes, and I think that went very well."
Contreras, who is 185 cm tall and throws 92 km/h, also recorded a top speed of 151 km/h. He reflected, "It felt really good. What was best of all was that I was able to face Japanese hitter and actually see their swing. It was a very big learning experience."
