Orix Buffaloes Sean Gerry pitcher (28), a former member of the Giants, showed a glimpse of what it means to be a "blockbuster. The 213-centimeter right-hander, the tallest player ever in the majors at 213 centimeters, made his first appearance at the Miyazaki camp on March 15, taking 21 pitches and hit giving up just two hits, "It was really good. I haven't played against hitter in a while, so I was able to get back into the swing of things.

He arrived in Japan on the 6th and has been training with NPB pitches for about six weeks. "I'm completely used to them now," he said, showing his control of not only fastballs but also slider and change-up. After being closer hit with five pitches, Ota was impressed, saying, "It feels like he's throwing from about 15 meters (instead of the 18.44 meters from mound to home plate). He's also got great control of the outside pitches. I'm glad he's on my side (laughs)."

Manager Kishida said, "He's throwing some interesting pitches, so I'm looking forward to seeing him." He is counting on him to be part of the starting rotation. Expectations for "Big Jerry" are only growing. (Nambu Shunta)
