Orix Buffaloes 's Ryuhei Sotani, pitcher for Samurai Japan, who will be competing in the WBC, entered bullpen for the first time on the second day of their training camp (Sunmarine Miyazaki). Sandwiched between Fujihira (Rakuten Eagles) and Taneichi (Lotte), he threw a total of 30 pitches, including fastballs, slider, fork, and cutter. "I ended up exerting more force than I expected. Everyone else was throwing good pitches, so I tried too hard to throw good pitches too..." he said with a wry smile.

He also exchanged opinions with Darvish (Padres), who is participating in the training camp as an advisor. "He confirmed and shared breaking ball with me. I told him how I throw them and what my mindset is. He told me, 'You throw a good ball,'" he said happily.
