Orix Buffaloes 's new foreign player, infielder Bob Seymour (formerly of the Rays), made his first appearance as the third batter and first baseman in the Red vs. White game at the Miyazaki training camp on the 14th. He faced Hiroshi in his first at-bat and Toyama in his second, both of whom grounded out to second base. While he was unable to get his first hit since coming to Japan, he reflected cheerfully, "I'm not the type to worry about results, especially at this time of year. I saw the ball well and there were many things I thought were good. I'm glad I was able to play well in front of all the fans."

He is a left-handed long-distance hitter who boasts overwhelming power, having hit 30 Home Run in AAA in 2013. "The most important thing is to get better every day. I would like to continue to get more at-bats like this, while keeping a firm grasp on the zone in which I can hit and being conscious of not lagging behind on the straight ball," he said with emphasis.
