On the 11th, Orix Buffaloes pitcher Ryuhei Sotani (25) participated in an intrasquad game alongside fellow WBC Japan national team members Miyagi and Wakatsuki. He pitched as the second reliever for starter Miyagi, pitching a powerful one inning with no hit, no runs, and two strike out. During the live batting practice on the 8th, his partner Wakatsuki was unable to use his Pitch Com due to a charging error, but on this day he was fully equipped. "Kenya-san charged it up properly," he lightly teased his senior partner, adding, "I don't feel any difficulty pitching. Then there's the pitch clock. I can see the time and the numbers, so I want to be mindful of not getting impatient with that."

The left-handed pitcher, making his WBC debut, had a top speed of 148 km/h and was in good form. He also checked the condition of slider and fork, and seemed full of energy, saying, "I just need to go for it. I want to be prepared to pitch anywhere. If possible, I want to throw as few pitches as possible, and pitch well in inning that I'm given."
