Orix Buffaloes Hiroya Miyagi pitcher Daiya Miyagi (24), a member of Japan's WBC team, vowed to shift gears for the Red-White game on the 10th and 11th. During a live batting practice session on the 8th, he threw 20 pitches in harsh conditions with temperatures of 4.5 degrees Celsius. He also limited his power output to around 60-70%. He is scheduled to pitch one inning in the game alongside fellow national team member Soya. "The question is how hard I can throw the ball in the (strike) zone. I want to be able to continue to produce good results," he said, looking ahead. The left-hander, who will be playing for the second time in 2023, is also adapting to the WBC ball. His preparations so far have been going smoothly. Samurai Japan's training camp in Miyazaki begins on the 14th.
