Softbank Hawks pitcher Haru Matsumoto looked satisfied in his first game of the season on the 10th. On the first day of the third training session in Miyazaki, he participated in live batting practice (batting practice in a real game format) and faced seven hitter. "I've been working on how to use my lower body in practice, and for breaking ball, I've been working on how well I can throw to specific spots, like a curveball right down the middle," he said, carefully throwing about 30 pitches.

Regarding power, he said, "I just threw it comfortably," and there was no sense that he was swinging his arm with all his might. Still, his pitch speed that day was consistently in the mid-140 km/h range, and he reached 148 km/h twice. After that, he threw 35 more pitches in bullpen, and looked satisfied, saying, "I won't know until I watch the video, but (including bullpen) I felt good throwing." He added, "I still have a lot to improve. I think (my pitch speed) will naturally improve once we get into March and the exhibition games are halfway through." He was very satisfied with his first live BP appearance.
