Appearing on "Professional baseball News 2026" broadcast on Fuji TV ONE on the 2nd, Tomotaka Sakaguchi mentioned Orix Buffaloes Yusuke Mugitani.

Sakaguchi commented, "I see him as a player with extremely high physical abilities. He's good at everything, whether it's defense or batting. The same goes for base running." He also analyzed, "Also, he played in the first team last year and made a lot of mistakes, both visible and invisible, so if he can keep that in mind and show some carefulness, I think he's a player who can compete for a regular spot."

"If a player like that fits in as number one or number three, it will give the team momentum. I hope they can make the most of what they learned last year this season," he said.

In his first year as a professional last season, Mugitani played in 79 games, batting .231 Home Run, 10 RBI, and 12 stolen base bases. It will be interesting to see if he can become a regular this season, his second year.
