Seibu Lions Ryosuke Moriwaki pitcher (33) made his first appearance in live BP (live batting practice) at the indoor practice field on August 8. He said that he is doing well so far.

He joined Seibu Lions as the sixth pick in the 2018 draft from Sega Sammy. He has supported the team as a relief pitcher, pitching in over 40 games for three consecutive years since 2020. However, in 2023 he underwent a brachial artery patch procedure for right upper brachial artery occlusion, and was notified that he was no longer needed during the off-season. From 2024 onwards, he became a development player and has been aiming to return to the regular team.

On this day, he threw about 50 pitches to three hitter. "This offseason is going well. I've been able to train well since December of last year, so now I can focus on baseball," he said, and he arrived at this day having made the adjustments he had envisioned.

This spring, Moriwaki will begin his second and third team training camp in Haruno, Kochi. This will be his third year in the development team. The right-handed pitcher has vowed to "push his fastball this spring" in order to secure a return to the regular roster as soon as possible. "If I throw at 80%, I'll throw at 80%, and if I throw at 100%, I'll throw at 100%. I want there to be no gap between the pitcher and the receiver," he said. Moriwaki is currently making fine adjustments to ensure that the sense of the ball matches that of catcher, and he is steadily making progress towards a full recovery.
