On the 8th, Softbank Hawks manager Hiroki Kokubo spoke about his strategy with the introduction of the expanded base. He summarized the second training session, which reached its final day. Over the three days of the training session, the team conducted base running and batting practice using the expanded base, which will be introduced this season, to confirm its usability.

One of the things the manager mentioned was stolen base. The bases will be changed from 15 inches (approximately 38.1 cm) used until last season to 18 inches (approximately 45.7 cm). With the distance between bases reduced, Kokubo analyzed, "I wonder if stolen base will increase." He also commented, "The distance to touch is still too far. When returning to first base, it takes a while to get there to touch. If you run over here (the corner farthest from home plate), the distance to touch is really long." He also felt that the risk of being caught out on a pickoff attempt may be reduced. Last season, they recorded 98 stolen base second only to Rakuten Eagles. This season, they may even be able to break the triple-digit mark.
